Women's Lacrosse Falls to Jacksonville, 14-7

PHILADELPHIA - The Saint Joseph's women's lacrosse team lost, 14-7, in their first ever meeting with Jacksonville on Sunday afternoon. Junior goalkeeper Alisha Aquilino made 13 saves between the pipes for the Hawks.

Gwen Nihill and Jen Peters scored the first two goals for the Hawks to carry a 2-0 lead half way through the first half. Grace Dinn scored the only other Hawk goal of the first half as the Dolphins exploded on offense and put together an 8-1 run to end the first half.

After an early Jacksonville goal to start the second, Nora McGuire netted the Hawks first goal of the half to make the score 9-4 at 23:51. Alana Glanell, Julie Mineweaser and Abby Ananian would each a goal as Jacksonville went on to finalize the score at 14-7.

The Dolphins outshot SJU 41-17, while also holding an advantage in draw controls 17-5.

Saint Joseph's will return to action on Wednesday when it hosts Presbyterian for a 1:00 p.m. game.
