PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - Saint Joseph's women's basketball has announced that Lisanne de Jonge (Nijmegen, Netherlands) has signed a National Letter of Intent during the late signing period to attend Saint Joseph's University for the 2013-14 season.
A standout for the Netherlands national teams, de Jonge will compete for her country at the Under-18 European Championships later this summer. Selected a Third Team All-Star at last year's Under-17 World Championships, the 5-foot-11 forward averaged 9.8 points, 5.0 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game,while helping her country to an eighth place finish. Previously named both an All-Defensive Team and All-Rookie Team honoree, she began her international career with the Under-15 Team, earning All-Star honors. Playing for Batouwe Bemmel of the Netherlands' top division the last three years, de Jonge led her team to the national cup championship in 2012 and averaged 9.0 points, 7.3 rebounds and 1.4 steals per contest.
Saint Joseph's, the reigning Atlantic 10 champions, lost seniors Ashley Prim, Shelby Smith, Chatilla van Grinsven, Mireia Vila to graduation earlier this month.
