 | Greetings from Hawk Hill, It is with mixed emotions that I write to you this month.? While our spring teams have posted remarkable results worthy of celebration, it is with sadness that we mourn the passing of legendary Hawk coach Jack Ramsay.? One of the most beloved figures in Saint Joseph's history, Dr. Jack passed away on April 28 at his home in Florida.? He touched the lives of countless individuals with his warm spirit and engaging demeanor.? A member of the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame, no Hawk was more loyal or a greater ambassador for the University.? I could spend days recounting stories about Dr. Jack, but you can read more about his legacy by visiting, sjuhawks.com.? Please keep the Ramsay family in your prayers. Here on campus, the month of April moves quickly as the weather warms and with so many student-athletes in competition.? It is hard to believe that final exams and graduation are just a couple of weeks away. Among the notable achievements of our teams this spring, I would like to congratulate the men's lacrosse team which captured the Northeast Conference regular season title and will host the league championship on Sweeney Field this week.? In addition, the baseball team won the Liberty Bell Classic championship at Citizens Bank Park for the second time in three seasons. Furthermore, I'd like to acknowledge the men's and women's tennis and golf teams that competed at the Atlantic 10 Championships over the past two weeks.? The tennis squads both had record-setting seasons and golf turned in one of its best performances of the year at A-10s.? Men's and Women's Rowing, Softball, Track and Baseball are also poised to deliver postseason success as they compete at their respective championships during the month of May. Finally, as the academic year comes to a close, I'd like to thank you for your ongoing passion for and support of SJU Athletics. Go Hawks! Don DiJulia Director of Athletics | |
