Box Score MERION STATION, Pa. – A trio of first-half goals spelled defeat for the Saint Joseph's field hockey team as the Hawks fell to Bucknell, 4-0, at Ellen Ryan Field on Friday afternoon.
Bucknell (3-1) took an early lead six and a half minutes into the game as Amy Mucelli deflected a shot from Liz Wills into the cage after a penalty corner. Ten minutes later, Kiersten Sydnor picked up a loose rebound and found the back of the net for a two-goal edge.
The Bison netted a third with 6:33 to go in the half as Wills converted a penalty corner for her fourth tally of the season.
Lexie Curry scooped up a rebound of her own and slotted it home with 8:10 to play in the game to close out the scoring for the day.
Amelia Deibler made five saves in the cage for Saint Joseph's (2-3), while Shannon Keen made three and combined with Emily Finn for the shutout for Bucknell.
The Hawks return to action on Sunday afternoon when they host Rider at 1:00 p.m. After the game, the Hawk coaching staff will host an Alumnae Meet and Greet.
