Box Score LEWISBURG, Pa. – Junior Emily Nonnemacher tallied a pair of goals, but a pair of late goals gave the Bucknell Bison a 4-2 win over the Saint Joseph's field hockey team at Graham Field on Sunday afternoon.
Bucknell (5-6) opened the scoring just over two minutes into the game as Nicole Rupnik took a pass in front of the cage and converted for the early lead.
It would be short-lived, however, as Nonnemacher scored her third of the season less than six minutes later, picking up a rebound and sending it past Bucknell's Shannon Keen for the equalizer.
The Bison answered midway through the period as Rupnik assisted on a goal by Emma Fitzgerald that gave Bucknell a 2-1 edge that the Bison would eventually take into halftime.
Saint Joseph's (4-6) would eventually get level again, as Nonnemacher again tucked home a rebound to tie the game with 5:32 to play in the second half.
Unfortunately for the Crimson and Gray, Stephanie Dressler converted on a penalty corner just over a minute later to put Bucknell back on top. The Bison would add an empty net goal with 61 seconds remaining to seal the victory.
Both Keen and Junior Amelia Deibler made two saves apiece on the day.
Saint Joseph's returns to Atlantic 10 play this weekend with a road trip to Virginia. The Hawks take on VCU on Friday before heading to Richmond on Sunday.
