Meet A Hawk: Mallory Grey

Every Monday, the Saint Joseph's women's lacrosse program will highlight one member of its 2014-15 squad. Leading us into our 20th week will be junior defender Mallory Grey, out of Randolph, N.J.

1. Why did you choose Saint Joseph's?
I loved the camaraderie among the people on campus, and the students here are really passionate about the school. Like, we LOVE SJU, as it should be.

2. What is your favorite thing about Hawk Hill?
It takes about 10 minutes to walk across campus, which is so convenient because I'm late a lot.

3. What is your favorite place on Hawk Hill?
CAMPION! I don't care what anyone says, I love that place. I'm actually running out of swipes.

4. What is the best course you've taken or are currently taking at Saint Joseph's?
I'm in studio art now and I'm absolutely awful at it, but it's so much fun.

5. What is your major at Saint Joseph's? Dream job?
Sports marketing because sports have always been an interest for me. My dream job would be to either work for Nike or to work for a professional team; any team, any league, anywhere. Hire me!

6. Do you have any pregame rituals?
Usually oatmeal on game days and listening to good music. It has to be something with a good beat that makes me want to dance. NO COUNTRY.

7. What is your favorite thing to do while not playing lacrosse?
Anything that involves hanging out with my friends (aka teammates because we're obsessed with each other, it's sad); even if it's sitting on my couch all Sunday watching football.

8. What is your favorite lacrosse memory?
I scored a goal in 7 seconds one time in high school. It was the game-tying goal, and it was preseason . . . and it was a scrimmage . . . so actually, not that cool. My second answer would be Stetson last year. Everyone was in the best mood and the sideline cheering was on point! Plus, we were in Florida, so that was nice.

9. Do you have any hidden talents?
I wish. I'm rather boring, unfortunately.

10. Who is your favorite professional team and athlete?
I love Boston sports so I have to say Bruins. However if the Eagles keep winning me free coffee, I'm willing to switch! (Note – this questionnaire was filled out in October.)

As for favorite athletes I have 4: Alex Kahoe, Becky Lynch, Colleen Dawson, Katie Gallagher.

11. Who is your favorite musical artist?
Tough one. I'll say a tie between Coldplay and Third Eye Blind.

12. If you could have any superpower, what would it be?
The ability to go back in time. There have been too many tests I could really do over.

13. What is your favorite food? Favorite restaurant?
The real question is what isn't my favorite food? I like everything. However, I'll say sushi is definitely something I could eat everyday. Han Dynasty in Manayunk with the girls is the best restaurant experience a person could have.

14. If you were stranded on an island, what three things would you bring with you?
1. Bear Grylls – Hello, I could live forever on that island and he would do all the work.
2. Oliver – my dog.
3. My phone with free Wi-Fi – I could take such cool Instagram photos! Plus, live tweet to give my followers some updates on how Bear, Ollie and I were doing.

15. If you could have dinner with three people, past or present, who would they be?
1. Emma Stone – She's so cool and I want to be her.
2. Chris Pratt – Handsome and funny! What a combo.
3. She's fictional, but Olivia Pope – What. A. BOSS. I could get all the dirt on what really happens in D.C.

16. Who is your hero?
I have 4: Alex Kahoe, Becky Lynch, Colleen Dawson, Katie Gallagher.

BONUS! Which teammate is the...
…funniest?  Julia Falcone, Bonnie McShane, and Nora McGeever.
...most stylish?  Rena Carabases - that cross-back white t-shirt she wore during the first week of practice . . .  So cool.
…loudest?  Kelly Phelan
...most energetic? Genevieve Giblin!!!
