PHILADELPHIA – After 12 days away from regular-season competition, the Saint Joseph's women's lacrosse team (1-1) will host Wagner (2-2) in the squad's third consecutive regular-season home game this Monday, March 2. Opening draw is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. on Sweeney Field.

Heading into Monday's game, junior midfielder Kelly Phelan leads the squad in scoring with seven points on a team-best six goals and one assist and has added a team-best 10 draw controls while sophomore midfielder Sarah Smith (5G, 1A) and sophomore defender Maggie Egan (3G, team-best 3A) have added six points apiece. Junior defender Mallory Grey (5GB, 6CT) and freshman defender Kate Payne (6GB, 4CT) have combined for 11 of SJU's 39 ground balls and 10 of SJU's 25 caused turnovers while senior goalkeeper and Atlantic 10 Co-Defender of the Week Nora McGeever (1-1) sports a 10.23 goals against average and .586 save percentage in all 140:42.
SCOUTING WAGNER
After dropping their first two games of the season to Buckell, 9-7, and American, 16-12, the Seahawks defeated Manhattan, 10-6, and Lafayette, 14-9 last week. Shea Gegan (8G, 6A) leads the Seahawks in scoring with 14 points and also leads the squad in ground balls (15) and caused turnovers (12). Kate Ferraro (2-2) sports a 10.00 goals against average and .535 save percentage in all 240:00.
SERIES HISTORY AGAINST THE SEAHAWKS
Saint Joseph's owns an 11-0 all-time advantage over Wagner as Monday's game will mark the 12th time in program history and first time since 2013 that the Hawks and Seahawks will face each other. Saint Joseph's downed Wagner, 10-5, on February 24, 2013. Returning scorers from that game include Bianca Angstadt and Julia Falcone, who tallied one goal apiece.

Junior midfielder Kelly Phelan scored the triple-overtime game-winner to lift the Hawks over American, 13-12, on February 18. With the victory, Saint Joseph's picked up its first win of the season and head coach Alex Kahoe earned her first win as a collegiate head coach. Senior goalkeeper Nora McGeever became Saint Joseph's program recordholder in single-game saves, stopping 22 shots in her first collegiate win. Sophomore midfielder Sarah Smith added a team-best four goals in the victory.
