PHILADELPHIA – The Saint Joseph's women's lacrosse team (4-3) will close the non-conference portion of its 2015 schedule against Stetson (2-6) this Saturday, March 21. Start time is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. on Sweeney Field.

Nationally, the Hawks rank 10th in caused turnovers per game (10.33) and 12th in draw controls per game (14.33), led in the latter category by junior midfielder Kelly Phelan's 4.33, which ranks her 19th in the nation. Saint Joseph's senior goalkeeper Nora McGeever ranks 10th in saves per game (9.83) and ties with Stetson's Whitney Meyers for 24th in total saves (59).

LEADING HAWKS
Heading into Saturday's game, sophomore midfielder Sarah Smith (16G, 6A) and junior midfielder Kelly Phelan (15G, 7A) have posted 22 points apiece; Phelan also leads the squad in draw controls (26) while Smith has scooped up nine ground balls and caused a team-high 10 turnovers. Sophomore attack Nora McCallion (10G, 6A) and sophomore defender Maggie Egan (7G, 3A) have added 10+ point efforts.
On the defensive end of the field, juniors Courtney Emanuele (11GB, 9CT), Mallory Grey (10GB, 9CT), and Caroline Hagan (10GB, 7CT) have combined for 31 ground balls and 25 caused turnovers while senior goalkeeper Nora McGeever (4-3) owns a 10.74 goals against average and .459 save percentage in all 447:05 to go with a team-best 16 ground balls.
SCOUTING STETSON
Stetson (2-6) started the season 2-3 after wins over Delaware State, 16-3, and Presbyterian, 8-7, and losses to Coastal Carolina, 15-4, Elon, 16-5, and Cincinnati, 11-10 (OT). The Hatters have dropped their last three to Niagara, 10-9, Harvard, 17-5, and Marist, 13-6. Hallie Merz (8G, 12A) leads Stetson with 20 points while goalkeeper Whitney Meyers (2-5) sports a 10.60 goals against average and .474 save percentage in 396:18 to go with a team-best 22 ground balls.

Saint Joseph's owns a 1-0 all-time series edge after defeating Stetson, 16-5, on March 11 of last season down in DeLand, Florida. Returning scorers from that game include Julia Falcone (4), Emily Bowers (2), Kelly Phelan (2), Nora McCallion, Sarah Smith, and Bianca Angstadt.

The Wildcats jumped out to an 8-4 first-half lead and never trailed as the Saint Joseph's women's lacrosse team fell to Villanova, 13-9, on Wednesday evening on Sweeney Field. Freshman midfielder Dana Garbinski scored her first three collegiate goals to earn her first collegiate hat trick en route to leading all Hawks in scoring.
STARTING EIGHT
Saint Joseph's has seen eight Hawks start all seven games at this point in the early season. The sophomore trio of attack Nora McCallion and midfielders Katelyn Ambrose and Sarah Smith have sparked offensive unit while SJU's junior trio of Courtney Emanuele, Mallory Grey, and Caroline Hagan alongside sophomore Maggie Egan have anchored the back line. Senior goalkeeper Nora McGeever has played every minute in the cage, totaling 447:05, with the inclusion of three overtime games so far.
SOARING WITH SMITH
Sophomore midfielder Sarah Smith factored into 50% of SJU's goals in the Hawks' 14-11 win over Monmouth last Saturday. Smith registered a career-high seven points on a career-high five goals and career-high two assists to lead Saint Joseph's to its first road win of the season and fourth overall victory.

Saint Joseph's head coach Alex Kahoe spoke to Matt Harmon, for ESPN3, following SJU's 14-11 win at Monmouth on Saturday, saying: "We're looking to take the team to the next level, and I'm really proud of the team and how hard they're working. They're really stepping up to compete for each game that we have."
NO FAILIN' WITH PHELAN
In both of SJU's two overtime victories, junior midfielder Kelly Phelan converted on the game-winning goal. Phelan scored an unassisted goal in the third overtime against American on February 18 and then went on to score the double-overtime GWG on a FPS against Wagner on March 2.
