QUEENS, N.Y. - The Red Storm's Filippo Ricupati scored a pair of goals (45', 74') as the Saint Joseph's men's soccer squad fell to St. John's, 2-0, at Belson Stadium on Tuesday evening. With the loss, the Hawks cap the non-conference portion of their regular season at 3-5-1 overall, while the Red Storm improve to 5-2-2.

Ricupati first scored with just five seconds remaining in the first half, scooping up a loose ball off of a St. John's corner kick and putting his shot just out of reach to the left of Saint Joseph's junior goalkeeper Greg O'Connell for the 1-0 advantage.

At the 73:47 mark, Ricupati's shot deflected off of an SJU defender and went in for the Red Storm's second goal.

For the match, St. John's owned a 20-9 advantage in shots, including 12 in the second half, and a 7-4 edge in shots on goal, four of which came from Ricupati. The Red Storm earned all four of the match's corner kick opportunities.

Saint Joseph's senior forward Mori Diane led SJU with a team-best four shots, landing a team-best two on goal, while sophomore forward Derek MacKinnon added two shots, with one on goal. Junior midfielder Matt Crawford landed SJU's other shot on net.

O'Connell (3-5-1) made five saves in the full-match effort.

Crawford, senior midfielder Bliss Harris, senior defender Mike Stuski, junior defender Ben Zambetti, and sophomore defender Eddie McCusker gave full-match efforts alongside O'Connell.

Saint Joseph's will open Atlantic 10 Conference action at St. Bonaventure this Saturday, October 1. Start time at the Marra Athletics Complex in St. Bonaventure, N.Y. is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.

MATCH NOTES: Junior forward Jack Lee, a transfer from NJIT, came off the bench in the 86th minute to play four minutes in his SJU debut.
