Box Score PHILADELPHIA - The Saint Joseph's women's basketball team had its five-game unbeaten streak snapped on Wednesday as Temple held off the Hawks for a 69-66 victory at McGongile Hall.
In typical Big 5 fashion, the contest came down to the final moments as Saint Joseph's (5-1, 0-1 Big 5) rallied from down six with six minutes to play to take a 66-65 lead on a layup by Chelsea Woods with 19.5 seconds to play.
Out of their last timeout, the Owls (5-2, 2-0 Big 5) answered back as Tanaya Atkinson's driving layup made it 67-66 at with 16.3 seconds to go.
Temple would cause a SJU turnover and get the ball back with 10 seconds remaining. Off an in-bounds play, Deja Reynolds drew a foul after she was tied up in the corner, but was ruled to have been held after a discussion by the referees.
Reynolds connected on both free throws, and a game-tying three pointer by the Hawks at the buzzer was off the mark.
