ABOUT THE HAWKS
• Saint Joseph's wraps up its four-game road swing and begins Atlantic 10 play on Saturday as the Hawks head to VCU for a 1 p.m. matchup with the Rams.
• Saturday marks the 36th A-10 opener for the Hawks.
• Saint Joseph's has posted a 29-6 all-time mark in conference openers and topped VCU, 79-41, in last year's opener on December 31 at Hagan Arena.
• The Hawks were picked to finish fifth in the Atlantic 10 in a preseason poll of the conference's coaches.
• Saint Joseph's holds a 9-6 edge in the all-time series and has won seven of the last eight contests versus VCU.
• Saturday is the first of two games versus VCU this season for SJU.
• Despite holding an edge in the series, the Hawks are just 2-3 versus the Rams away from Hagan Arena, including a 56-54 loss at VCU in the previous meeting on January 31, 2018.
• The Hawks are coming off a 49-48 loss at Navy in their non-conference finale on New Year's Eve.
• Freshman Katie Mayock led the Hawks with a team-best 10 points, seven rebounds and four blocked shots. Over the past two contests Mayock is averaging 10.5 points and 10 rebounds per game, and recorded her first career double-double at Delaware (11 points, 13 rebounds).
• Sophomore Lula Roig came off the bench to score eight points for the Hawks at Navy.Over the last five contests, Roig has averaged 9.4 points per game, including a career-best 16 points versus Towson.
• Senior Whisper Fisher is averaging 7.7 points and 7.3 rebounds, while averaging 22 minutes per game over the last three contests.

THE ROAD TO 1,000
Senior Alyssa Monaghan is nearing the 1,000-point plateau for her career. A four-year starter, Monaghan would become the 27th Hawks to reach 1,000 career points as she enters Saturday with 987 points.
BLOCKING MAYOCK
Freshman Katie Mayock has quickly established herself as one of the top post defenders in the Atlantic 10. Through 13 games, the rookie has posted a team-best 21 rejections and currently ranks second in the conference in blocks-per-game at 1.6

Saint Joseph's begins the home portion of its conference schedule on Wednesday with a Jesuit Basketball Spotlight matchup versus Saint Louis. The game is set for an 11:30 a.m. tip as part of the Hawks' kids day promotion for area school children.
