AMHERST, Mass - UMass' Ryan Levay scored just 51 seconds into the second half to defeat the Saint Joseph's men's soccer squad, 1-0, at Rudd Field on Saturday afternoon. With the loss, the Hawks close the 2019 campaign with a 5-12-1 mark (1-7-0 A-10) while the Minutemen close their regular season at 7-10-0 (3-5-0 A-10) and are still in the mix for postseason consideration.

How It Happened
• UMass' Ryan Saul took a shot on goal that was saved back into play by Saint Joseph's sophomore goalkeeper Joseph Boehm; Quinn Serafino collected the ball at his feet and quickly dished it over to Levay, who hit the back of the net.
• The Hawks came out firing with 10 shots in the second half but landed only three on net as headers by sophomore midfielder Garrett Lyons (67') and senior midfielder Matt Mullock (73') were saved and senior forward Leon Maric's last good look for the Hawks in the 87th minute was denied.

• Boehm made four saves in the full 90:00.
• Rookies Ryan Hay (28) and Chris Hunt (48) saw considerable minutes off the bench.

"Although it's been a disappointing season in regard to the end results, I was proud of the team for its hard work and 'never quit' attitude," said head coach Don D'Ambra following the match. "Just about every game, we played hard and gave ourselves an opportunity to win the match. Ultimately, we just could not make enough impact plays to get results. Our future is bright as I felt we had some excellent plays from a few of our younger players. Freshmen Alex Hartmann and Michael Mullins did an excellent job on the backline this year and will only get better."
