Daly Forces Overtime, But Davidson Outlasts Hawks, 89-83

Saint Joseph's Ryan Daly forced overtime with a miraculous three-pointer at the buzzer, but Davidson outlasted the Hawks in the extra frame for an 89-83 win Saturday at John M. Belk Arena.

How It Happened
• Down 76-73 with the clock winding down, Myles Douglas found a trailing Daly who quickly released and connected on a running three-pointer at the buzzer to force overtime, 76-76.
• Davidson scored the opening five points of the extra time, but the Hawks fought back to make it a two point game three times.
• A pair of free throws by Daly brought the Hawks to within 85-83 with :51 to go, but the Wildcats closed the game out at the foul line, going 4-of-6, while holding SJU scoreless at the other end.
• The Hawks jumped out to a 4-0 lead, but Davidson answered back with 10 straight points to open a 10-4 lead on a layup by Luka Brajkovic at 16:09.
• Falling behind 15-8, Saint Joseph's responded with a 9-1 run as a three-pointer by Daly gave the Hawks a 17-16 lead.
• Davidson scored nine of the final 11 points of the first half to take a 48-39 edge into the lockerrooms.
• The Wildcats quickly extended their lead to 15 to start the second half, but the Hawks slowly chipped away at the deficit.
• Using a 14-2 run, Saint Joseph's battled back from 70-57 to make it 72-71 on a free throw by Rahmir Moore with 2:51 to go.
• Davidson pushed its lead back to three in the final seconds before Daly forced overtime at the buzzer.

• For the game, the Hawks shot 26-of-65 from the field (40 percent), but hit just 1-of-7 (14.3 percent) in overtime.
• Saint Joseph's shot 14-of-37 from three-point range (37.8 percent), led by Daly's 6-of-12. 
• The Hawks were 17-of-20 from the line, marking their most makes since Bradley.
• Davidson shot 42.9 percent from the floor (27-of-63), 38.1 percent from three-point range (8-of-21) and 75 percent from the foul line (27-of-36).
• Daly finished with a team-best 28 points, eight rebounds, three steals and added three assists.
• Daly reach the 20-point mark for the 10th time this season.
• Cameron Brown scored 14 points and added five rebounds.
• Lorenzo Edwards had 10 points, six rebounds and two blocked shots.

Next Up
The Hawks (3-13, 0-4 Atlantic 10) return home to host Rhode Island next Wednesday. Game time is set for 7:30 p.m. and will be the backend of a doubleheader with the SJU women's team.
