PHILADELPHIA – Saint Joseph's
Ryan Daly scored a game-high 30 points, but Drexel held off the Hawks' second-half rally for an 81-77 victory Thursday evening at the Daskalakis Center.
How It Happened
• Saint Joseph's jumped out to an early 11-4 lead as the Hawks knocked down five of their first six shots, capped by a jumper by
Jack Forrest at 16:04.
• Drexel responded with a 15-3 run to open a 19-14 lead on a free throw by Xavier Bell less than five minutes later.
• A jumper in the lane by
Taylor Funk got the Hawks back to within one, 19-18, but the Dragons followed with a 19-4 run to open a 38-22 advantage on a three-pointer by Mate Okros.
• Down 40-24, Saint Joseph's finished the first half with a flourish as it scored 13 of the final 17 points to enter halftime down just 44-37.
• Drexel pushed its lead to 49-39 early in the second period, but the Hawks answered with a 16-3 run as a three-pointer by Funk made it 55-52 with 14:25 to play.
• The Dragons regained the lead, 58-57, but five consecutive points by Daly edged SJU back in front, 62-58.
• The lead changed five times over the next seven minutes with Drexel opening a 73-70 advantage.
• The Dragons extended their lead to as many as five, but a pair of free throws by Daly made it a one-possession game, 77-74, with 1:12 left.
• Following a defensive stop, Daly connected on another free throw to make it a 77-75 contest, with SJU regaining the ball as
Dahmir Bishop tapped the ball off a Drexel player off a missed free throw.
• On the ensuing play, Forrest's three-pointer for the lead missed the mark, and Drexel's James Butler grabbed the rebound and extended the lead to 79-75, on a pair of free throws.
• Funk brought the Hawks to within 79-77 with two free throws with :07.8 to go, however Okros sealed the victory from the line going 2-2 at the other end.

• Daly finished the game 9-18 from the floor, 2-5 from three-point range and 10-12 from the line, and added five reboundsÂ
• Daly reached the 30-point mark for the fifth time in his SJU career.
• In his first start of the season,
Rahmir Moore finished with 12 points, four assists and two steals.
• Moore and rookie
Jordan Hall each had a team-best four assists, with Hall adding seven points and four rebounds.
• Funk was the third Hawk in double figures, scoring 14 points to go with a team-best eight rebounds.
• Saint Joseph's shot 42.9 percent from the floor (24-56) and 16.7 percent from three-point range (4-24).
• Drexel ended the game shooting 46.4 percent overall (26-56) and 47.1 percent from behind the arc (8-17).
• At the line, SJU was 25-33 (75.8 percent) to the Dragons' 21-26 (80.8 percent).
• Drexel finished with a 35-29 edge in rebounding, with both teams grabbing nine offensive boards apiece and scoring 14 second chance points each.
