Women's Basketball Heads to Davidson for Wednesday Meeting

PHILADELPHIA – The Saint Joseph's women's basketball squad (8-16, 2-10 A-10) will look to bounce back from five consecutive losses when the Hawks head to Davidson (14-11, 7-5 A-10) for Atlantic 10 action this Wednesday, February 19. Opening tip is set for 7:00 p.m. at John M. Belk Arena in Davidson, N.C.

Saint Joseph's ranks second in the A-10 and 22nd nationally in scoring defense, allowing an average of just 56.0 ppg.

The Hawks were predicted to finish 10th in the A-10 this year, according to the 2019-20 A-10 Women's Basketball Preseason Coaches Poll conducted by the league's 14 head coaches and announced on October 29, while Davidson was predicted to finish fifth.

Saint Joseph's is 6-0 all-time against Davidson, dating back to the series opener in 2008.

Last time out, sophomore guard Katie Jekot closed the Hawks' deficit to three, 53-50, with 59 seconds remaining in regulation, but La Salle pulled away to hand SJU a 59-53 loss in Hagan Arena on Saturday, February 15. Freshman forward Gabby Smalls dropped 17 points on 5-of-10 shooting from the field and a 7-of-10 showing from the stripe to go with six rebounds, one assist, one block, and one steal in 21 minutes off the bench.
