Match Results

PITTSBURGH, Pa.
– The Saint Joseph's men's tennis team rallied from down a point early to top Duquesne, 4-3, at the Alpha Tennis and Fitness Center on Tuesday.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• The Dukes claimed both completed doubles matches to grab the early lead.

• From there, the Hawks asserted themselves in singles play.  Francesco Mowrey was a 6-3, 6-4 winner in the second flight, while Nickolas Frisk secured a point with a 6-4, 6-1 triumph in the third.

• Johnnie Massart held off his fifth-flight opponent, 6-4, 6-4, in the fifth flight, before Eshan Kanetkar finished off a three-setter in the fourth, 7-5, 4-6, 6-4, to clinch the over all match victory.

HAWK TALK
"Overall, it was a great team effort that allowed us to win our first conference match of the season," assistant coach Marc Pibernat said.  "The guys did a great job bouncing back from our last loss.  We still have to improve in certain areas, especially in doubles, where in our last couple of matches we did not find the intensity that is needed to win the doubles point.  A big shoutout goes to Eshan Kanetkar for giving the team the last decisive point, but as I mentioned, it was totally a team effort, especially in singles."
