Women's Basketball Set to Face Fordham in A-10 Championship First Round on Tuesday

PHILADELPHIA – The Saint Joseph's women's basketball squad (9-19, 3-13 A-10) returns to the Bronx, N.Y. to face Fordham (19-10, 11-5 A-10) in the 2020 Atlantic 10 Championship First Round this Tuesday, March 3. Opening tip is set for 7:00 p.m. at Rose Hill Gym in the Bronx, N.Y. The winner of Tuesday's game will advance to the A-10 Championship Quarterfinals in Dayton, Ohio.

Saint Joseph's is 38-11 all-time against Fordham and has won four of the last seven meetings.

SJU ranks second in the Atlantic 10 and 20th nationally in scoring defense, allowing an average of just 56.0 ppg.

The Hawks were predicted to finish 10th in the A-10 this year, according to the 2019-20 A-10 Women's Basketball Preseason Coaches Poll conducted by the league's 14 head coaches and announced on October 29, while Fordham was predicted to finish second.

Last time out, the Rams pulled away in the second quarter by outshooting the Hawks, 15-4, as Saint Joseph's ultimately fell to Fordham, 67-45, in the regular-season finale at Rose Hill Gym on Saturday afternoon. Junior point guard Lula Roig led the Hawks in scoring with 10 points on five-of-six shooting from the field.
