Men’s Soccer Blanks GW, 2-0

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Saint Joseph's men's soccer team (4-7-0, 2-1-0 A-10) blanked George Washington (3-7-1, 1-2-0 A-10) Saturday afternoon, 2-0, to pick up its second conference win this season.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • After a scoreless first half of play, 56 seconds into the second frame the Hawks jump ahead with a goal from junior James Fletcher. Fletcher fed a ball to graduate student Omry Perel just outside the 18 and Perel tapped it backwards for Fletcher to take and bury past the keeper.
  • During the 69th minute, graduate student Aidan Watkins sent a free kick into the box that was headed by senior Garrett Lyons to junior Chris Hunt who sent a bicycle kick off the woodwork and into the net.
BEHIND THE BOX SCORE:
  • Fletcher advances his team lead in points and goals after his score Saturday. He now has nine points on four goals and an assist.
  • Hunt scored his second on the year.
  • SJU put eight of 13 shots on frame and held the Colonials without an accurate shot.
  • Luis Ludosan (3-2-0) picks up the win and clean sheet.
