Men’s Soccer Claims Double Overtime Win Against Navy on Senior Night

PHILADELPHIA – Rookie Blake Driehuis scored the game winning goal during the 102nd minute in double overtime to lift the Saint Joseph's men's soccer team (8-8-1) past Navy (10-4-1) on Tuesday night, 2-1.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • The visitors took an early lead with a PK goal during the 11th minute.
  • SJU was quick to find the back of the net in the second half. Just 2:59 second into the later period, graduate student Omry Perel sent a perfectly placed ball into the far corner of the box for junior Chris Hunt to tap in for the game tying score.
  • Driehuis received the corner kick from graduate student Aidan Watkins on the final goal.
BEHIND THE BOX SCORE:
  • The Hawks fired 13 shots with six on frame, toping Navy's three of nine.
  • Watkins increases his team leading assist total to seven.
  • Hunt picked up his third goal on the season and Driehuis his fourth.

St. Joe's travels to Fordham on Saturday for the regular season finale.
