BRONX, N.Y. – An early goal wasn't enough for the Saint Joseph's men's soccer team (8-8-2, 5-2-1 A-10) as the Hawks drew with Fordham (6-9-2, 4-3-1 A-10), 1-1.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Junior Alex Hartmann scored the first goal of the match during the 18th minute after a ball was headed by a Ram and bounced in front of Hartmann. He charged and sent a laser shot to the back of the net.
- Fordham had a chance to net the equalizer with a penalty kick in the 50th minute, but the shot was off target.
- Ten minutes later the Rams knotted the game at one apiece with a score from Sameer Fathazada.
BEHIND THE BOX SCORE:
- Hartmann scored unassisted.
- Rookie Lars Haavie (4-6-1) allowed the lone goal and made seven saves.
UP NEXT:
The Hawks will host a quarterfinal match in the Atlantic 10 Championship next weekend. The league is set to announce the seeding after all conference matches are played on Saturday.
