PHILADELPHIA – Saint Joseph's women's lacrosse head coach
Alex Kahoe has announced her squad's initial slate of games for the spring of 2021.
Due to the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, all dates, times, and opponents are subject to change over the course of the season. In addition, in accordance with the guidance provided by health professionals regarding COVID-19, the games scheduled for Sweeney Field during the month of February will be played without spectators present. A decision on games in March and April will be made at a later date.
The Hawks were originally set to open the season this Saturday against Villanova, but the game was postponed due to COVID-19 protocols affecting the Villanova program. Instead, the Hawks will now kick things off on Wednesday, February 17, against Hofstra at Sweeney Field. Visits from Army West Point and Drexel and a trip to Lehigh close out the month of February.
SJU will host a pair of Colonial Athletic Association foes in Delaware and Towson before starting Atlantic 10 play at home against La Salle on March 26. This season, the conference is split into two pods, with Hawks being grouped with the Explorers, Duquesne, St. Bonaventure, and UMass. Each team will play all four of their pod opponents both home and away for a total of eight conference games. The second pod features Davidson, George Mason, George Washington, Richmond, and VCU.
Four teams will qualify for the 2021 Atlantic 10 Women's Lacrosse Championship, which will be hosted by the top seed in the tournament, with the semifinals set for April 30 and the title game slated for May 2.
Fans in the United States can watch the Hawks' home games live on ESPN+, while the games will be made available to an international audience on the A-10 Network. Live stats will be available for all home contests as well.
