AMBLER, Pa. – The Saint Joseph's men's tennis team battled through a tough contest on Saturday night as the Hawks got past Chestnut Hill, 4-3, at Upper Dublin Sports Center.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Saint Joseph's (2-0) grabbed the early point with a sweep of the doubles matches.  Eshan Kanetkar and Nathan Perrone earned a 6-4 win in the first flight before Alex MacNeil and Johnnie Massart secured the point with a 6-3 win in the third.  Luis Janko and Sam Sauter finished off the sweep with a 7-5 second-flight victory.

• Perrone and Kanetkar earned straight sets wins in the first and third flights, respectively, to give the Hawks a commanding lead, but the visitors clawed back with three consecutive results to tie the match at 3-3.

• Janko then sealed the deal, outlasting Mark Gladkyy, 6-4, 3-6, 7-5 in the sixth flight to win the critical fourth point and lead the Hawks to a win.

HAWK TALK
"It was not an easy night for us," assistant coach Marc Pibernat said.  "It started very good, winning all three doubles matches, but in singles, things got tighter.  The team knew that tonight all the pressure was on us and for the guys it is not easy to handle mentally when we play a team that has a lot to win and little to lose while we on the other hand had very little to win and a lot to lose.  Hopefully, this win brings some mental toughness to the team for the way it was done.  We have two weeks now to prepare for our next match and hopefully we will be able to compete at full potential, having all the guys healthy."
