Balanced Attack, Stifling Defense Lead Women’s Lacrosse Past Lehigh, 15-8

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Seven different scorers found the net and goalkeeper Melissa Semkiw made 13 saves as the Saint Joseph's women's lacrosse team cruised past Lehigh, 15-8, at the Ulrich Sports Complex on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Stephanie Kelly had the hot hand early, notching a hat trick in the game's first 10 minutes as Saint Joseph's (2-2) opened an 8-2 lead midway through the first half.  Sam McGee added two goals and an assist during the Hawks' scorching start as well.

• The hosts got back into the game as Lehigh (0-2) grabbed two in a row to cut it to a four-goal margin with 13:17 to play.  Alyssa Manley got one back for the Hawks with four minutes to go, but a pair of yellow cards gave the Mountain Hawks a two-up situation, which they cashed in for a goal to send the game into the break at 9-5.

• The second half started in a similar manner to the first, as McGee finished off her hat trick and Manley and Kaela Smith netted their respective second goals of the day to push the SJU lead to 12-5 less than six minutes into the second stanza.

• Saint Joseph's kept up the defensive pressure, keeping Lehigh scoreless for a nearly 17-minute stretch in the second half to salt away the win.  Kelly would add her fourth of the day while Riley Delaney tallied her second and Julia Pash grabbed her first to close out the scoring for SJU.
