RICHMOND, Va. - The Saint Joseph's men's basketball team will ride a three-game win streak into the 2021 Atlantic 10 Championship later this week as the Hawks held off Richmond, 76-73, after a game-tying three-pointer by the Spiders was ruled to have not beaten the buzzer in the regular season finale on Monday night at the Robins Center.
How It Happened
• Saint Joseph's jumped out to an 11-point lead as a
Cameron Brown three-pointer made it 16-5.
• Richmond responded with an 11-0 run to tie the game at 16-16.
• Pushing ahead 23-21, the Hawks scored eight consecutive points to open a 31-21 advantage on another Brown three-pointer.
• Up 34-25 entering the second half,
Taylor Funk pushed SJU's lead to 12, 37-25, to open the final period.
• The Spiders chipped away at the Hawks' lead, tying the game at 59-59, on a Nathan Cayo layup with 5:08 to play.

Jordan Hall responded with a three-pointer and was followed by a pair of Funk free throws as the Hawks regained the lead, 64-59.
• Ahead by seven with just over a minute to play, Saint Joseph's saw its lead cut to 74-71 with 12 seconds to go.
• On the inbound, the Hawks found
Rahmir Moore open for a dunk to extend the lead to 76-71.
• Isaiah Wilson made a layup and drew the foul with one seconds to go for the Spiders.
• Off an intentionally missed free throw, the ball bounced off a Hawk, giving possession to the Spiders down 76-73 with :00.4 to go.
• On the ensuing play, Matt Grace connected on a three-pointer from the corner, only to have the referees wave off the shot as it was still in Grace's hand when the clock expired.
