The Saint Joseph's softball team finished its opening weekend of Atlantic 10 play in style as the Hawks capped a four-game sweep of La Salle with 18-4 and 13-0 victories over the Explorers on Sunday.
How It Happened
Game One
• A triple by
Molly Kapala gave the Hawks a 2-0 lead in the top of the first as
Kirstin Cox and
Sarah Ostaszewski scored.

Caela Abadie followed with the first of her three home runs on the day, plating Kapala to make it 4-0.
• Saint Joseph's continued to add to its lead in the top of the first as
Jordan Hinkle connected on a grand slam to make it 8-0.
• A double by
Jessica Gaughan in the top of the second scored Kapala to push the Hawks' lead to 9-0.
•
Madison Fife began a four-run fourth for SJU with a RBI single that scored Abadie to make it 10-0.
• With the bases loaded, Hinkle delivered a bases-clearing double as the Hawks took a 13-0 lead.
• La Salle struck back for four runs in the bottom of the fourth to make it 13-4.
• Abadie sparked a five-run top of the fifth with a two-run home run that scored Kapala.

Taylor Marinelli scored off a defensive error by La Salle off a single by Fife to make it 16-4.
• Hinkle and
Erica Lawrence scored on a throwing error off a ball hit by Ostaszewski for the final two SJU runs.
Game Two
• Ostaszewski scored on a RBI single in the top of the first to give the Hawks a 1-0 lead.
• Abadie connected on a two-run home run to right field to make it 3-0.
• A single by
Payton Baxter scored Gaughan to cap a four-run first for the Hawks.
• Hinkle scored on an infield single by Ostaszewski to spark a five-run second inning.
• Cox scored on a RBI single by Kapala to make it 6-0.
• After a sacrifice fly by Marinelli scored Ostaszewski, Gaughan followed with a two-run single to extend the Hawks advantage to 9-0.
• Following a scoreless third inning, Marinelli made it 11-0 in the top of the fourth with a two-run home run to center field.
• Lawrence capped the scoring with her first collegiate home run, connecting on a two-run shot to right center that made it 13-0.

• The Hawks scored 31 runs on 32 hits, with nine Hawks collecting multiple hits on the day.
• Abadie finished the day 5-for-6 with three home runs, six RBI and six runs scored.
• Hinkle was 5-for-7 at the plate with seven RBI and three runs scored.
• Gaughan was 4-for-6 with a pair of doubles, three RBI and three runs scored.
• Kapala drove in four, scored five runs and was 5-for-8 with a double and triple.
