VILLANOVA, Pa. – The Saint Joseph's softball team fell to Villanova in its doubleheader on Saturday as the Wildcats won the opener, 8-1, and took game two, 7-1.
How It Happened
Game One
•
Caela Abadie gave the Hawks a 1-0 lead in the top of the first on a RBI single that scored
Sarah Ostaszewski.
• Angela Giampolo tied the game at 1-1 in the bottom of the first with a solo home run.
• Brooklyn Ostrowski made it 2-1 later in the first as she drew a bases-loaded walk.
• A fielder's choice made it 3-1 in favor of the Wildcats in the bottom of the second.
• Ryan Henry made it 5-1 later in the second on a two-run home run.
• Villanova added three insurance runs in the bottom of the sixth to secure the 8-1 win.
Game Two
• A pair of RBI singles by the Wildcats gave host Villanova a 2-0 edge in the bottom of the second.
• A solo home run by Giampolo and a two-run single by Ryan extended the Wildcats' lead to 5-0 in the fourth.
•
Kirstin Cox scored on a RBI triple by Ostaszewski in the top of the fifth to bring Saint Joseph's to within 5-1.
• Villanova added two more runs in the sixth to pull away for the 7-1 win.

Amanda Herr fell to 4-4 on the season with the loss in game one as she allowed eight runs on 10 hits, while striking out three.

Saige Stutz moved to 3-1 with the loss as she allowed seven runs on 10 hits, while striking out three in game two.
• Abadie was 3-for-5 on the day.
