MERION STATION, Pa. – The Saint Joseph's men's tennis team fell to crosstown rival Temple, 4-0, at the SJU Tennis Complex on Tuesday afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED
• Temple (7-1) jumped out to the early lead with wins in all three doubles flights.
• The Owls swept the third, fourth, and fifth singles flights to secure the win, and the remaining matches went unfinished. In the top flight,
Nathan Perrone won the first set, 6-0, for Saint Joseph's (5-2) before falling in the second before play was halted.
HAWK TALK
"The guys did not find their best feelings in doubles today; however, in singles, they played better tennis and the energy was much better," assistant coach
Marc Pibernat said. "When we play strong teams, for us to have a chance not only to compete but to win, the best tennis needs to come out of the players' rackets, because if not, it becomes almost an impossible task to achieve, trying to win these kind of matches."
UP NEXT
The Hawks hit the road, heading to Pittsburgh to take on Carnegie Mellon on Friday before meeting Duquesne on Saturday.
