KINGSTON, R.I. – Wednesday afternoon belonged to
Alvin Dahn as the Saint Joseph's senior midfielder came off the bench to score both goals - including the match-winner with 12 seconds remaining in regulation - to lift the Crimson and Gray to a 2-1 road win over Rhode Island at the URI Soccer Complex.
"It's an unbelievable feeling," said Dahn following the victory. "It's been so long since I experienced something like this. The team was ready to suffer and win this game. It was a complete team win, and we fought well to earn this win."
With the win, the Hawks snap a four-match losing streak to improve to 2-5 overall (1-2 A-10) and to pick up their first Atlantic 10 victory and three key conference points of the season.
"I was really happy with the performance of our team today," said head coach
Don D'Ambra. "We defended really well, stayed organized the entire match, and had some really impressive offensive plays. Alvin made a big impact on the game, and I was so pleased with his ability to execute his chances at goal. Overall, it was a great team effort today."
Despite being limited in personnel for the third consecutive match, the Crimson and Gray found a way to win on the road and saw freshman goalkeeper
Luis Ludosan (1-3, 1-2 A-10) earn his first collegiate victory in net.
