AMBLER, Pa. – The Saint Joseph's men's tennis team cruised to its third consecutive victory to open the season, topping Mount St. Mary's, 6-1, at Upper Dublin Sports Center on Saturday night.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Saint Joseph's (3-0) got off to a fast start, sweeping all three doubles matches to grab the first point of the night.

• Nathan Perrone and Nickolas Frisk were winners in the first and second singles flights, respectively, to set the Hawks up with a commanding 3-0 lead.

• Mount St. Mary's (0-2) would earn a point in the third flight, but Eshan Kanetkar outlasted his fourth-flight opponent to clinch the overall victory.

• Johnnie Massart and Luis Janko won their matches in the fifth and sixth flights, respectively, to finish off the night.

HAWK TALK
"It was a great start to the indoor season for us [to get three wins], especially with the adversity we faced in the first two matches with injuries," assistant coach Marc Pibernat said.  "Today was the first match that all players were available to play and it was great to have Nicko and Francesco back in the lineup.  The team made a statement tonight with their performance.  The guys are responding very well to the coaching and the chemistry between the players and the coach is at the best since I've been here on Hawk Hill.

"I would like to give a special mention to Sam Sauter that unfortunately tonight was not in the lineup but has been playing very good tennis and deserved to play as well.  It is a problem but at the same time a blessing that the guys are making it so hard for me to decide the lineup.  Monday we will go back to work with the purpose of trying to get in the best possible shape to have another great performance against Navy next Sunday."

UP NEXT
The Hawks will visit Navy next Sunday, March 14.
