The Saint Joseph's men's rowing team had a strong showing this past Saturday in their first event on the Schuylkill River as the Hawks picked up victories over Marietta and Gonzaga.
"It was exciting to compete in our first home races of the year and host two IRA member programs. A huge round of thanks to Marietta and Gonzaga for making overnight trips to join us in Philadelphia!," said Saint Joseph's Head Coach
Mike Irwin. "Winning all five races on the day is a confidence boost we needed after our trip to Annapolis. It was a short week of preparations due to our required day off on Wednesday and I was encouraged by how we elevated our level of focus. The 3V went off the line like a shot once again and never looked back. The 2V had a close battle with Marietta in the morning and used that as a lesson to break open water when you have the chance in the afternoon. A new line-up in the 1V found more rhythm as each day progressed. Two open water wins where they were able to control the race off the line was fun to watch."
