PHILADELPHIA – Five goals from
Lauren Figura and a six-point day from
Stephanie Kelly helped carry the Saint Joseph's women's lacrosse team to a 20-2 rout of St. Bonaventure at Sweeney Field on Friday afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED
• The last time these teams met, the Hawks used a run at the start of the second half to pull away from the Bonnies after a tight first half. There would be no such drama on Friday as the Hawks opened a 2-0 lead on goals by Figura and
Emma O'Neill in the opening seven minutes.
• St. Bonaventure (2-8 overall, 0-6 Atlantic 10) would get one back to cut the deficit in half, but that would be it for the half as O'Neill and
Julia Pash scored 15 seconds apart to kick off a 14-0 run that would last deep into the second half.
• Saint Joseph's (8-5 overall, 5-1 Atlantic 10) put the game away early, as Figura scored four times and O'Neill secured her own hat trick in the first half, while Kelly tallied three of her assists over a six-and-a-half minute span.
• it was more of the same in the second half, as eight different Hawks found the back of the net in the final stanza.
