Saint Joseph's
Caela Abadie connected on her eighth home run of the season, setting a new personal single-season record, but the Hawks' softball team dropped both games of its doubleheader with George Washington on Saturday.
Saint Joseph's fell 8-0 in five innings in the opener as the Colonials' Sierra Lange tossed a no-hitter, while the Hawks' battled back-and-forth with George Washington in the nightcap, before the visitors pulled away for a 16-6 win in six innings.
How It Happened
Game One
• George Washington's Faith Weber gave the visitors a 4-0 lead in the top of the first with a two-out grand slam.
• The Colonials added to their lead in the second as Jessica Linquist scored on a fielding error by the Hawks to make it 5-0.
• Alexa Williams extended George Washington's lead to 6-0 in the top of the third as she scored from third as teammate Hannah Eslick got caught in a rundown trying to steal second base.
• Weber connected on a two-run home run to push the Colonials ahead 8-0 in the top of the fifth.
Game Two
• The Colonials' Lange scored on a RBI single by Alessandra Ponce to make it 1-0 in the top of the first.
• Williams followed with a two-run home run to right field to extend George Washington's lead to 3-0.
• Saint Joseph's
Kirstin Cox scored to make it 3-1 in the bottom of the first as the Colonials mishandled a bunt by
Sarah Ostaszewski.
• After a single by
Molly Kapala, Abadie connected on a three-run home run to right field to give the Hawks a 4-3 lead.
• With Saint Joseph's batting around in the first inning, an infield single by Cox scored
Jessica Gaughan to make it 5-3.
• George Washington's Jenna Cone tied the game at 5-5 with a two-run home run in the top of the second.
• The Hawks retook the lead in the bottom of the second as Kapala led off with a solo home run to left field to put Saint Joseph's up 6-5.
• Linquist put George Washington ahead 8-6 in the top of the third with a three-run home run.
• Cone extended the Colonials' lead to 9-6 in the next at-bat with a solo home run to left field.
• Linquist made it 10-6 in favor the Colonials as she scored on a wild pitch in the top of the fifth.
• Ponce followed with a two-run double to push George Washington ahead 12-6.
• A two-run home run by Linquist in the top of the sixth made it 14-6 in favor of the Colonials.
• Lange scored off a throwing error by Saint Joseph's, while Williams singled home Ponce to make it 16-6 later in the sixth inning.

• George Washington's Lange tossed the fifth no-hitter in program history as she struck out six Hawks over five innings.
• Kapala was the lone Hawk to reach base as she was hit by a pitch in the first inning.
• Saint Joseph's
Saige Stutz moved to 3-5 on the season with the loss as she allowed seven earned runs on six hits.
Game Two
• Cox went 4-for-4 with a run scored and a RBI.
• Kapala was 2-for-4 with two runs scored and a RBI.
• Abadie's home run was the 29th of her career.
• Abadie's previous single-season mark for home runs was seven set in both her freshman and sophomore years.
