NEWARK, Del. – The Saint Joseph's men's tennis team dropped a 6-1 result at Delaware on Tuesday.
Delaware took the upper hand in doubles play, winning two of the three flights.Â
Eshan Kanetkar and
Nathan Perrone won the first flight, however, 7-5.
Perrone then led his first-flight match, 6-4, 5-4, when his opponent retired, but the Blue Hens swept the remaining five flights to secure the match victory.
"We faced a strong team today that is very well-coached and has good players at every position," assistant coach
Marc Pibernat said. "We had our chances in doubles at #2, but we couldn't capitalize on it. In singles, we fought hard, but we are coming short of expectations in a couple of positions and the team is in desperate need of those points if we want to have a chance to beat these strong teams."
The Hawks are back in action on Thursday at Penn.
