The Saint Joseph's softball team extended its winning streak to four games as the Hawks swept Saturday's doubleheader with Rhode Island, 8-0 in six innings, and 12-4, at the SJU Softball Field.
How It Happened
Game OneÂ
•
Caela Abadie connected on a three-run home run to give Saint Joseph's a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first.
•
Taylor Marinelli made it 4-0 in the bottom of the second as she scored off a RBI single by
Sarah Ostaszewski.
•
Jordan Hinkle scored to make it 5-0 later in the second on a sacrifice fly by Abadie.
• Ostaszewki scored on a single up the middle by
Kirstin Cox in the bottom of the fourth to push the Hawks ahead 6-0.
• The Hawks made it 7-0 in the fifth as Hinkle singled home
Payton Baxter.

Molly Kapala clinched the 8-0 six-inning win with a solo home run down the left field line in the bottom of the sixth.
Game Two
• Rhode Island, serving as the home team, took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first on a RBI single by Ari Castillo.
• Castillo came around to score to make it 2-0 later in the inning on a double by Victoria Viaclovsky.
• A two-out single by Skyler Rapuano scored Cassie Swenson to make it 3-0 in the second.
• The Hawks got on the board in the top of the third as
Carli Davy scored from third on an errant pickoff throw by Rhode Island's catcher.
• A single down the right field line scored Kapala to bring Saint Joseph's to within 3-2 in the top of the fourth.
• A bases loaded walk by Kapala scored Hinkle to tie the game at 3-3 in the top of the fifth.
• Abadie gave Saint Joseph's a 5-3 advantage in the next at-bat with a single up the middle that scored Ostaszewski and Cox.
• Kapala and Abadie came around to score on a double by
Jessica Gaughan to extend the Hawks' lead to 7-3.
• The Rams got a run back in the bottom of the fifth as Hannah Desousa scored on an infield single by Swenson to make it 7-4.
• Saint Joseph's added five insurance runs in the top of the seventh to secure its fourth straight victory.

Game One
•
Saige Stutz improved to 4-5 as she tossed six scoreless innings, allowing just two hits, while striking out four.
• Ostaszewski went 3-for-4 with two runs scored and a RBI.
• Cox was 2-for-3 with a RBI and run scored.
• Abadie was 1-for-2, recording her team-leading 11th home run of the season.
Game Two
•
Emily Siler improved to 5-3 as she allowed one run on five hits over 5.0 innings of relief.
• Gaughan went 3-for-4 with four RBI and a run scored.
• Hinkle was 3-for-4 with two runs scored and run driven in.
