Saint Joseph's
Sarah Ostaszewski became just the fourth Hawk in softball program history to reach 200 career hits as she helped Saint Joseph's to a doubleheader sweep of Rhode Island on Sunday at the SJU Softball Field. Posting a 12-2 win in five innings in the opener, and taking game two 10-0 in five innings, the Hawks completed a six-game series sweep of the Rams.
How It Happened
Game OneÂ
• Saint Joseph's, serving as the visiting team for both games, got on the board in the top of the first as
Kirstin Cox scored on a RBI single by
Molly Kapala.
• Kapala made it 2-0 later in the first as she scored off a sacrifice fly by
Jessica Gaughan.
• Kapala extended the Hawks' lead to 4-0 with a two-run single in the top of the second.
•
Caela Abadie followed with a RBI single that scored Cox to make it 5-0.
• Rhode Island made it 5-1 in the bottom of the second as Cassie Swenson scored on a RBI single by Caileigh Holland.
• Susan Harrison scored on a sacrifice fly by Skyler Rapuano to bring the Rams to within 5-2 later in the second.
• The Hawks answered back with two runs in the top of the third on a RBI double by
Sarah Ostaszewski and a RBI single by Cox to push ahead 7-2.
• Saint Joseph's broke open the game in the top of the fifth, plating five runs to take an 12-2 lead.
• Ostaszewski connected on her 200th career hit in the fifth with a single to right field that led to three runs.
• Ostaszewski came around to score on a sacrifice fly by Kapala.
• Cox added the final run of the inning as she scored on a throwing error off a sharply hit ball by Abadie to make it 12-2.
Game Two
• A double by Kapala scored cox to give the Hawks a 1-0 lead in the top of the first.
• Saint Joseph's used a seven-run third inning to take an 8-0 lead.
• A single by Abadie scored Cox to make it 2-0 in favor of the Hawks.

Madison Fife followed with a three-run home run to push Saint Joseph's ahead 5-0.
• Marinelli scored on a RBI single by Hinkle to push the Hawks ahead 6-0, while two runs scored on a single by Ostaszewski.
• Saint Joseph's added a pair of unearned runs in the top of the fourth to secure the series sweep.

Game One
•
Ashley Stokes tossed three scoreless innings of relief to improve to 3-3 on the season.
• The Hawks' starter,
Saige Stutz, allowed two runs on six hits over 2.0 innings.
• Ostaszewski went 2-for-3, drove in four runs and scored twice.
• Cox was 3-for-4 with three runs scored.
• Kapala went 2-for-3 with four RBI.
• Hinkle was 2-for-3 with three runs scored.
Game Two
•
Amanda Herr improved to 7-5 on the year as she scattered two hits over 5.0 innings, while striking out four.
• Five Hawks collected two hits apiece.
• Ostaszewski (202 career hits) joined Christina Kowalski (253), Dana Parks (231) and Kristen Luciano (224) as the only Hawks to collect 200 hits in a Saint Joseph's uniform.
