Ostaszewski Ties Doubles Record As Softball Sweeps La Salle

Saint Joseph's Sarah Ostaszewski connected on her 50th career double, tying the program record, as the Hawks swept their doubleheader from La Salle on Saturday at SJU Softball Field. The Hawks opened the day with a 10-2 victory in six innings, and followed with a 5-3 win in the nightcap.

How It Happened
Game One
• Molly Kapala gave the Hawks a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first with a RBI triple that scored Kirstin Cox.
• Kapala came in to score on a throwing error by La Salle off a ball hit by Caela Abadie.
• Ostaszewski drove in three runs in the bottom of the second with a single to right field that was misplayed by the Explorers. 
• Jessica Gaughan scored Madison Fife on a RBI single to make it 6-0 in the third.
• La Salle scored a pair of unearned runs in the top of the fifth to cut the Hawks' lead to 6-2.
• Abadie led off the bottom of the fifth with a solo home run to push Saint Joseph's ahead 7-2.
• The Hawks closed out the six-inning win with a three-run bottom of the sixth.
• A RBI double by Abadie opened the scoring in the sixth, while Kapala scored on a sacrifice fly by Fife to make it 9-2.
• Nicole Bondoc scored the final run of the contest on a throwing error off a ball hit up the middle by Gaughan.

Game Two
• Carli Davy gave Saint Joseph's a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second on an error by the Explorers during a rundown.
• La Salle struck for three unearned runs in the top of the third to take a 3-1 lead.
• Natalie Rios scored on a fielding error by the Hawks to make it 1-0.
• Victoria Zatko connected on a two-run home run to push La Salle ahead 3-1.
• A two-out double by Ostaszewski tied the Hawks' program record for doubles in the bottom of the fourth and sparked a two-run rally.
• Two batters later, Kapala tied the game with a two-run single.
• Taylor Marinelli doubled home Erica Lawrence to put the Hawks ahead 4-3 in the fifth.
• Ostaszewski led off the bottom of the sixth with a solo home run to extend Saint Joseph's lead to 5-3.
• Amanda Herr closed out the game tossing a scoreless seventh inning in relief.

Inside The Boxscore
Game One
• Ashley Stokes improved to 4-3 with the complete game victory as she struck out five Explorers.
• Ostastzewski and Abadie finished with three RBI apiece, while Gaughan added two.

Game Two
• Saige Stutz moved to 5-5 with the win as she allowed three unearned runs on four hits, while striking out three.
• Herr earned her first save of the season.
• Ostaszewski's double in the fourth inning tied her with Kristen Luciano '97 for first all-time with 50 apiece.
