HOW IT HAPPENED
• Saint Joseph's (13-12) took the lead early on a double by Thomas and a single by
Liam Bendo in the top of the first.
• The Dukes got one back in the bottom of the inning, but but
Brandon Drapeau singled home Bendo in the third before a two-run home run by
Langston Livingston put the Hawks ahead, 5-1.
• JMU once again got one in the bottom of the inning, but this time it was Thomas with the two-run shot in the fifth to extend the SJU lead to 7-2.
• The hosts put together a three-run inning in the bottom of the fifth, with all three runs unearned, but Cossetti hit a solo home run in the top of the seventh to make it an 8-5 game.
• Unfortunately for the Crimson and Gray, the Dukes got two in the eighth and then two in the ninth to get the win.

GAME 2: James Madison 9, Saint Joseph's 8
HOW IT HAPPENED
• This time, it was James Madison (9-11) that took the lead early as a seven-run six-hit first inning staked the hosts to a big advantage after one.
• The Hawks chipped away, with Cossetti getting on the board with a three-run home run in the third.
• In the sixth,
Brendan Hueth scored on a passed ball before a sacrifice fly by Bendo cut the deficit to 7-5. In the seventh, Cossetti hit a sacrifice fly of his own to make it a 7-6 game.
• The Duke would get a pair of insurance runs in the bottom of the eighth, which would go on to prove critical as Thomas would double home a pair and get into scoring position with the tying run, but Eli Ottinger escaped the threat to earn the save.
BEHIND THE BOX SCORE
• Ottinger preserved the victory for Donovan Burke, who allowed four runs on three hits in five innings.Â
Ryan Devine took the loss for SJU after facing six batters in the first.Â
