WEST WINDSOR, N.J. – The Saint Joseph's men's rowing team's 3rd Varsity 8 advanced to the petite finals of the 2021 IRA National Championships, while the Hawks' Varsity 8 and 2nd Varsity 8 will compete in the fourth finals for their respective events following Friday's racing on Mercer Lake.
How It Happened
• Starting the day with time trials, Saint Joseph's 3rd Varsity 8 turned in a time of 6:28.811 to advance to the 3rd Varsity 8 A-B-C semifinals.
• Rowing through tougher conditions in the afternoon's semifinal heat, the Hawks' 3rd Varsity 8 completed the course in 6:46.785 to earn a spot in the 3rd Varsity 8 petite final.
• Saint Joseph's Varsity 8 turned in one of its best showings this season during the time trials as the Hawks completed the course in 5:46.366 in the Varsity Challenge Cup.
• Placing 21st among the 31-boat field, Saint Joseph's Varsity 8 advanced to the D-E semifinals and won its race in a time of 6:48.891 to move into Saturday's Varsity Challenge Cup fourth level final.
• The Hawks' 2nd Varsity 8 started the day by posting a time of 6:19.969 in its time trial in the Kennedy Challenge Cup.
• Racing in the D-E semifinal, Saint Joseph's 2nd Varsity 8 placed third in its race in a time of 7:05.661 to advance to Saturday's Kennedy Challenge Cup fourth level final.
