GREENSBORO, N.C. – Saint Joseph's junior catcher
Andrew Cossetti was named to the ABCA/Rawlings Division I East All-Region First Team, it was announced on Wednesday. The All-Region teams are voted on by members of the American Baseball Coaches Association.
Cossetti, a First Team Atlantic 10 All-Conference selection and an A-10 All-Championship Team honoree last month, tied for the league lead with 16 home runs, the second-most in a season in program history. He finished the season atop the Atlantic 10 with a .720 slugging percentage and tied for fifth in the conference with a .450 on-base percentage as well to go with a .318 batting average, a team-leading 39 runs scored, and 34 runs batted in. Nationally, Cossetti is seventh in Division I in home runs per game and 16th in slugging percentage, and earlier this season he was named to the watch list for the Buster Posey Award, given to the nation's top collegiate catcher.
The Eagleville, Pennsylvania, native is the first Hawk to earn All-Region honors since Tim Brennan was tabbed for the Second Team in 2018; he is just the fourth First Team selection in program history, with the most recent being John Brue in 2015.
All-Region First Team selections are eligible for ABCA/Rawlings All-America honors; the All-America teams are scheduled to be announced on Saturday, June 19.
