The Intercollegiate Rowing Coaches Association has announced that 11 members of the Saint Joseph's men's rowing team have been recognized as 2021 IRCA Scholar Athletes, organization officials announced this week.
Saint Joseph's graduate students Slam Dunkley and David Gee, seniors Harris Beckmeyer, Ian Gallagher, Gavin O'Connor, Collin Petersen and Collin Seabrook, juniors Max Bernstein and John Carluccio, and sophomores Noah Pingul and Aaron Tully were named IRCA Scholar Athletes in the organization's inaugural year.
In order to be named a IRCA Scholar Athlete, rowers and coxswains must have met the following criteria:
- Athletes from all IRCAÂ member schools are eligible
- Athletes must be in second year or more of eligibility
- Athletes must have competed in a program's top three boats during the current season or raced at the 2021 IRA Championship
- Athletes must have at least a 3.50 cumulative GPA through the fall semester
The IRCA recognized 403 rowers and coxswains as 2021 Scholar Athletes. The honoree represented 53 teams from the 59 member programs.
