NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – It was a clean sweep of the Atlantic 10 field hockey weekly honors for Saint Joseph's as juniors
Freke van Tilburg and
Katy Benton and sophomore
Manu Ghigliotti were honored by the league office on Monday afternoon.
Â
After scoring three goals, including a pair of game-winners, van Tilburg was named the A-10 Offensive Player of the Week. She tallied twice, including a tying goal in the second quarter and the winner late in the fourth, as the Hawks knocked off #4 North Carolina, 3-2, on Friday. Two days after toppling the three-time defending national champions, van Tilburg scored another second-quarter goal that broke a 0-0 deadlock and helped lead the Hawks to their second top-10 win in three days, a 2-1 triumph over #8 Rutgers. Van Tilburg leads the league in goals and points with seven and 16, respectively.
Â
Benton was tabbed as the Defensive Player of the Week after helping spearhead the Hawks' outstanding defensive effort this weekend. SJU held North Carolina to just seven shots, the Tar Heels' lowest output of the season, while keeping the Scarlet Knights to four shots on goal out of seven total. Benton added a pair of assists on van Tilburg's tying and winning goals against UNC, and now leads the league with five helpers on the season.
Â
Ghigliotti scored a key insurance goal in Sunday's win over Rutgers, extending the Hawks' lead to 2-0 at the end of the third quarter. Her four goals and nine points on the season also place her among the league's leaders.

The Hawks, ranked 17
th in last week's NFHCA poll, play a pair of local rivals this week when they visit Penn and Temple.
