The Saint Joseph's women's soccer team put up a strong effort on Thursday evening against #20 Pitt, but the Panthers pulled away in the second half for a 3-0 victory at Sweeney Field.
How It Happened
• The Hawks and Panthers played to a 0-0 standstill after 45 minutes as St. Joe's
Katie Cappelletti made seven of her game-high 10 saves in the first half.
• Pitt's Amanda West broke the tie at 63:40 as she beat Cappelletti to the lower right side to make it 1-0.
• Landy Mertz extended the Panthers' lead to 2-0 on a shot to the upper left corner from the right side of the box at 73:51.
• Sarah Sinnott scored the match's final goal at 86:21 as her shot from the right side of the box deflected off the left post and into the net.
