Box Score BRONX, N.Y. – The Saint Joseph's women's basketball team (6-11, 2-3 A-10) stumbled at Fordham (14-5, 5-2 A-10) on Wednesday night, 55-35.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Hawks scored the first four points of the game over the initial 1:25 before the Rams tallied six-straight up to the media break with 4:55 left for a 6-4 lead. Fordham took a 5-4 margin into the break to lead 11-8 after one.
- Fordham claimed four of the first six points up to the media break at 4:55 for a 15-10 margin. The Rams held SJU scoreless the rest of the period with a 7-0 advantage. The home team led, 22-10.
- The Rams continued to spread the margin after a 10-2 run over the initial 4:33 of the third stanza to push the gap to 32-13. Fordham outpaced SJU 13-9 to finish the period up, 45-22.
- St. Joe's won the scoring battle in the final period 13-10.
BEHIND THE BOX SCORE:
- St. Joe's shot 28.3% (13-of-46) overall, 15.4% (2-of-13) from deep, and 70.0% (7-of-10) from the line.
- Fordham went 39.6% (21-of-53) from the floor, 27.8% (5-of-18) from long range, and 89.9% (8-of-9) from the stripe.
- Rookie Talya Brugler led the Hawks with 11 points and six rebounds on a 4-of-9 showing.
- Freshman Laila Fair dropped seven points.
- Junior Gabby Smalls corralled a season best six boards.
