PHILADELPHIA – The Saint Joseph's men's soccer team headed on the road for the final non-conference game of the season on Tuesday evening, drawing with Loyola (Md.) at Ridley Athletic Complex.
The Hawks move to 2-5-8 on the season, the Greyhounds now 4-5-5 on the year.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Omry Perel had the best chance of the opening 10 minutes, picking up a loose ball from a Greyhound defender. The forward broke one-on-one with the keeper, rounding him to force him slightly wide of the frame before he cushioned his right foot shot just marginally wide of the left post.
- Only moments later, Perel found his fellow Israeli in a good position on the left side, Ariel Hadar's effort being matched as Alex Bobocea collected to his lower right.
- Luis Ludosan was forced into action for the first time in the 23rd minute, some good collective play from Loyola giving a Greyhound attacker a free shot from 15 yards out. Ludosan dove low and to his left to parry out for a corner kick, an attack eventually quelled by the Hawk defense.
- Ludosan made the save of the match in the 27th minute, one that came off his own defender. A Loyola corner sent into the box was contested between a Greyhound attacker and Garrett Lyons, the ball karoming its way towards goal before a quick reaction save saw Ludosan tip it onto the crossbar as the Hawks cleared the danger.
- Both teams settled for a 0-0 score heading into the half.
- The Hawks recorded just two of the eight total shots in the second half. However, just a lone effort from Loyola proved the only test for either keeper, one that Ludosan comfortably saved.
INSIDE THE BOXSCORE
- The result is the eight draw of the season for the Hawks, extending on the record for most in program history.
- Loyola outshot SJU 14-9 on the night, a slight 3-2 advantage in shots on goal.
- Chris Hunt had three shots to pace the Hawks, Perel and Blake Driehuis each adding two each.
- Ludosan recorded his fourth clean sheet of the year with three saves.
