Saint Joseph's Erik Reynolds II and Cameron Brown combined for 41 points to lead the Hawks' men's basketball team past Lafayette, 63-59, on Monday evening at Hagan Arena.
How It Happened
• After a back-and-forth start, Saint Joseph's used a 7-0 run to open a 24-17 edge on a three-pointer by Christian Winborne with 8:18 left in the first half.
• Lafayette cut the Hawks' lead to four, but Saint Joseph's extended its lead to 36-26 at halftime.
• An alley dunk by Ejike Obinna off a feed from Lynn Greer III pushed St. Joe's lead to 49-36 with 14:12 to go in the contest.
• Behind a 13-3 run, the Leopards closed to within 52-49 with 9:35 to play.
• Saint Joseph's opened a 57-49 advantage on a three-pointer by Reynolds II with 6:29 to go.
• Lafayette continued to answer back, as the visitors came within 59-56 with 45 seconds remaining.
• Brown extended the lead to five, 61-56, on a jumper with 20 seconds remaining.
• Lafayette's Devin Hines connected on a three-pointer to make it a two-point game five seconds later.
• Greer III converted both sides of a one-and-one to push the Hawks ahead 63-59.
• Winborne knocked the ball free from the Leopards in the final seconds to help secure the victory for Saint Joseph's.
