Softball Continues Play At Buzz Classic

ATLANTA, Ga. – The Saint Joseph's softball team continued play at the Buzz Classic on Saturday as the Hawks put up strong efforts in a pair of contests, but fell to host Georgia Tech, 8-5, and Marshall, 6-4.

How It Happened - Game One
• Georgia Tech struck for three runs in the bottom of the first on a RBI single by Tricia Awald, and a two-run double by Emma Minghini.
• Jordan Hinkle cut the Yellow Jackets' lead to 3-1 in the top of the third as she scored on a fielder's choice off the bat of Taylor Marinelli.
• A RBI double by Jin Sileo pushed Georgia Tech ahead 4-1 in the bottom of the third.
• Saint Joseph's exploded for a four-run top of the fourth to take the lead, 5-4.
• Kayla Tauber and Karlee Smith both scored on a throwing error by Georgia Tech off a fielder's choice by Marinelli.
• A wild pitch by the Yellow Jackets allowed Nicole Bondoc to score to tie the game at 4-4.
• Hailey Malito put the Hawks ahead, 5-4, on a RBI single that scored Marinelli.
• Georgia Tech tied the contest at 5-5 in the bottom of the fourth on a RBI double by Awald.
• A wild pitch allowed the Yellow Jackets to score the go-ahead run in the bottom of the fifth, and they added a pair of insurance runs in the bottom of the sixth.

Inside The Boxscore - Game One
• Marinelli was 2-for-4 with a run scored and a RBI.
• Hinkle went 2-for-3 with a run scored.
• Tauber and Malito each collected their first collegiate hits.
• In the circle, Emily Siler moved to 0-2 on the season as she allowed three earned runs over 2.0 innings of relief.
• Amanda Herr tossed 4.0 innings, allowing two runs on four hits.
• Saige Stutz started the contest and allowed three runs on four hits.

How It Happened - Game Two
• A RBI double by Katie Adams put Marshall ahead 1-0 in the top of the first.
• Adams came around to score later in the first on a double by Mya Stevenson to make it 2-0.
• Saint Joseph's answered back with three runs in the bottom of the first to take a 3-2 lead.
• Tauber scored the first run for the Hawks on a RBI single by Marinelli.
• After a RBI single by Kaelin Cash plated Madison Fife, Marinelli made it 3-2 as she scored on a fielder's choice off the bat of Malito.
• The Hawks added to their lead in the bottom of the second as Carly Rybinski scored off a RBI single by Hinkle to make it 4-2.
• Stevenson scored on a wild pitch in the top of the fourth to bring Marshall to within 4-3.
• A two-run home run by Lauren Love gave Marshall a 5-4 edge in the top of the sixth.
• Marshall added an insurance run in the top of the seventh on a RBI single by Aly Harrell.

Inside The Boxscore - Game Two
• Tauber was 2-for-3 with a run scored and a stolen base.
• Marinelli and Cash were both 1-for-3 with a RBI apiece, with Cash collecting her first collegiate hit.
• Malito collected a RBI, and Hinkle was 1-for-4 with a RBI.
• Siler tossed her first complete game of the season, allowing six runs on seven hits, while striking out six.
