ATLANTA, Ga. – Saint Joseph's
Taylor Marinelli went 2-for-4 with three RBI as the Hawks capped play at the Buzz Classic on Sunday morning with a 7-5 loss to Villanova.
How It Happened
• Saint Joseph's took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first as
Kayla Tauber scored on a RBI double by
Madison Fife.
•
Jordan Hinkle scored on a RBI ground out by Marinelli to make it 2-0 later in the inning.
• Fife came around to score the third run of the inning on a RBI single by
Kaelin Cash.
• The Wildcats struck for three runs in the bottom of the first to tie the contest at 3-3.
• Villanova jumped ahead 5-3 in the bottom of the second on a two-run double by Ally Jones.
• The Hawks answered back in the top of the fourth as a two-run double by Marinelli plated Hinkle and Tauber to tie the game at 5-5.
• Villanova's Victoria Sebastian connected on a two-run triple in the bottom of the fifth to provide the decisive runs in the 7-5 matchup.
