BALTIMORE, Md. – The Saint Joseph's softball team turned in a pair of dominant performances on both sides on the ball on the first day of play at the Retriever Round Robin. The Hawks began play on Saturday with a 9-1 victory over host UMBC, and finished the day with a 9-0 win over Seton Hall in six innings.
How It Happened - Game One
• UMBC jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second on a solo home run by Meghan Dempsey.
• A two-run double by
Madison Fife put the Hawks ahead 2-1 in the top of the third.
•
Jordan Hinkle scored on a RBI groundout by
Taylor Marinelli later in the third to make it 3-1.
• The Hawks pushed their lead to 5-1 in the top of the fifth on a RBI double by Fife, and a RBI single by
Jessica Gaughan.
• Saint Joseph's added two runs in the top of the sixth as
Sarah Cancila scored on a fielding error, and Hinkle drove home
Kayla Tauber with a RBI double.

Lauren Pscolka scored the final run in the top of the seventh on a RBI groundout by
Kaelin Cash.

• Fife went 2-for-3 with three RBI.

Nicole Bondoc was 2-for-3 with two runs scored.
• Tauber scored three runs.
• Gaughan went 2-for-4 with a RBI.

Emily Siler (1-3) earned the complete game victory, allowing one run on five hits, while striking out six.
How It Happened - Game Two
• Hinkle scored on a RBI single by Marinelli to give Saint Joseph's a 1-0 lead in the top of the first.
• Cash connected on her first collegiate home run, drilling a three-run shot to make it 4-0 later in the first inning.
• A RBI single by Fife scored
Karlee Smith to extend the advantage to 5-0 in the second inning.
• A Seton Hall fielding error allowed Hinkle to score in the fourth to push the Hawks ahead 6-0.
• Hinkle scored on a RBI single by Cash to make it 7-0 in the sixth.
• Cancila scored on a wild pitch, and a
Hailey Malito sacrifice fly scored Cash later in the sixth inning to cap the scoring at 9-0.

Amanda Herr (1-2) picked up the shutout victory, allowing just four hits, while striking out two.
• Cash went 2-for-3 with four RBI and two runs scored.
• Hinkle was 2-for-3 with three runs scored.
