TAMPA, Fla. – The Saint Joseph's softball team began play with a pair of games at the USF Tournament on Friday. The Hawks opened the three-day event with a strong effort in their opener, but fell to St. John's, 6-0, while #25 USF held off St. Joe's, 5-0.
How It Happened - Game One
• St. John's took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first on a RBI single by London Jarrard.
• Jarrard scored later in the first on a double steal to open a 2-0 advantage for St. John's.
• Meisha Murray scored on a sacrifice fly by Amy Mallah to give the Red Storm a 3-0 edge in the bottom of the fifth.
• St. John's added three insurance runs in the bottom of the sixth to make it 6-0.
Inside The Boxscore - Game One

Jordan Hinkle went 2-for-4 and added a stolen base.
•
Emily Siler moved to 1-5 on the season as she allowed three earned runs on 10 hits, while striking out four.

Saige Stutz tossed 0.1 innings of relief.
How It Happened - Game Two
• South Florida jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second on a RBI single by Meghan Sheehan.
• A two-run single by Alanah Rivera extended the Bulls' edge to 3-0 later in the second.
• Sheehan again connected on a RBI single, this time in the fourth inning to make it 4-0 in favor of USF.
• Alexis Johns scored the final run of the game as she scored on a ground out by Josie Foreman.
Inside The Boxscore - Game Two

Sarah Cancila and
Kaelin Cash each went 1-for-3.

Nicole Bondoc went 1-for-1 with a walk.
•
Amanda Herr moved to 1-3 on the season as she allowed three earned runs on six hits over 2.0 innings.
• Stutz tossed 2.0 innings of relief, allowing two runs on four hits.
• Siler tossed a scoreless inning of relief.
