Men’s Lacrosse Takes Down Providence, 15-8

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Saint Joseph's men's lacrosse (3-1) picked up a 15-8 victory Saturday afternoon against Providence (2-2). Four Hawks recorded four points in the win.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Providence jumped out to an early 2-0 lead before the Hawks ripped off a 4-0 run for a 4-2 lead. The teams traded the final four scores to put the Hawks up 6-4 after one.
  • A 5-1 second quarter widened the gap for SJU to head into the half with an 11-5 difference.
  • Both squads recorded two scores apiece to keep things level at 13-7.
  • St. Joe's cushioned its lead with a 2-1 margin in the fourth frame.
BEHIND THE BOX SCORE:
  • Saint Joseph's outshot the Friars, 47-34, including 30-18 on net.
  • Zach Cole dominated at the X, going 23-of-27 with a season best 18 ground balls. He added his first goal of the season.
  • Carter Page recorded four scores with five shots on net.
  • Matt Bohmer continued his hot start to the season with three goals and an assist.
  • Levi Anderson (2G, 2A) and Tucker Brown (1G, 3A) finished with four points.
  • Austin Strazzulla added three points with a pair of scores and one assist.
  • Mac McLaughlin and Matt Popeck rounded out the scoring efforts with one goal each.

St. Joe's returns to Sweeney Field with a Saturday matchup against Monmouth.
